What Are Peer-Group Giving & Passive Donations?
You can magnify your giving efforts by participating in peer-focused activities and giving programs sponsored by others.
- Peer group fundraising includes campaigns you can start among your friends and colleagues. For example, you can link a fundraiser to your Facebook profile or engage in crowdfunding through GoFundMe. There are a variety of giving days where you are able to create your own campaign. This includes GiveSTL Day in May each year and Giving Tuesday the week after Thanksgiving. Additionally, giving circles provide a social opportunity combined with charitable giving.
- Passive donations are ways to donate through other organizations. For example, employers that offer matching gift programs or companies that contribute a portion of your purchase to the nonprofit of your choice. Examples of the latter include AmazonSmile.
